The Fun Cup endurance racing series is probably the most value for money motor racing on the planet! Launched in the UK in 2002, the concept was originally conceived in Belgium and it now runs in France, Italy, Germany and Spain with the USA next in line. 

With the clearly defined objective of providing cost effective, close, exciting and above all, good fun racing for all teams competing, the series has been a huge success both with new / amateur competitors and seasoned professionals alike.

The cars aren't exactly what they appear to be - VW Beetles - they only look like them. They are in fact pukka space-frame single-seater racing cars, powered by 130 bhp 1.8 Audi petrol engines and, new for 2009, a new class powered by 160 bhp VW/Audi 1.9 TDi engines;they have racing developed brakes, fully adjustable suspension, and a plastic (GRP) body that looks like a Beetle. Weighing just 760kgs gives the Fun Cup cars more than adequate performance, as 130 bhp and 160 bhp translate to 171 and 210 bhp/tonne respectively - in other words on a par with a Lotus Elise and some Porsche's.

As I mentioned earlier this is endurance racing - think Le Mans - where the races are over 4, 5, 6 and 7 hours in the UK (and there's a 25 hour race at the famous Spa circuit in Belgium!), with several drivers sharing each car. In association with the organisers of the Fun Cup, Brian Svenson and I are able to offer a special opportunity to drivers wishing to learn circuit driving and start racing. We will teach you the basics of circuit driving and car control, train you to increase your pace, put you through your ARDS course to obtain your National B Racing Licence, and we'll continue to coach you and partner you in races!

Between us we have around 70 years of competitive driving experience; me in single-seater circuit racing and Brian in rallying and circuit racing; and on top of that we collectively have around 40 years of instructing experience and we are both Grade A ARDS Instructors Licensed by Silverstone.
