When John Hayman and I did the Radical Enduro races at Donington last weekend we were frustrated because we were off the front running pace...

...but we had said all weekend that we felt the engine in our SR3 was not pulling strongly. Well now it has been confirmed by the team, on inspection, at some time before we got it, the engine had been "buzzed" to 14,500rpm (normal max revs is 10,500), causing damage to the top end of the engine.

Consequently the compression was substantially reduced on all four cylinders, down from 250 psi to 140 psi, and therefore the engine was substantially down on power!! In Slipstream's Team Principle Van Kaiser's own words, "It would have been costing you up to 3 seconds per lap!".

We hadn't expected to jump in at the deep end and be immediately as quick as the front-runners, but we had expected to be much closer than we were! That 3 seconds was the answer! That would have put us where we expected to be! We would more than likely have qualified in the top six of the SR3's!!!
